Can You 3d Print a Boardgame?

Hey there! It’s Tessa, aka SparkyFace5. I’ve always had a bit of a bone to pick with the game Trouble – you know, the one with the iconic Pop-O-Matic dice in the middle? The gameplay is great, but those plain old cylinders you use as game pieces? Oof, So I decided to spice things up a bit.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Let’s be honest, those default game pieces have always been pretty dull. I thought, why not create something a bit more exciting and meaningful? Enter my new set of game pieces—animal-themed designs that bring a bit of Aussie charm and a touch of conservation awareness to the table.

So far, I’ve made a rabbit, a bilby (an endangered Australian animal), a platypus (another Aussie icon), a koala (because how could I not?), and an otter. Each of these little guys isn’t just fun to play with—they also serve as a reminder of the amazing wildlife we need to protect.

Bringing Conservation to the Game

These pieces are more than just a fun addition to your Trouble game—they’re a small step towards spreading awareness about endangered species. Whether you’re a gamer, a 3D printing enthusiast, or someone who loves animals, these models are a great way to mix play with purpose.

Where to Get Your Hands on Them

You can check out the entire set on my Thangs profile here. Some of these models are free to download, while others are available with a membership subscription. Trust me, these pieces will bring a whole new level of fun to your game nights.

Why 3D Printing?

If you’re wondering why I went down the 3D printing route, it’s simple—I’m passionate about it. 3D printing gives me the flexibility to create detailed, custom pieces that aren’t just cool to look at but also meaningful. Plus, I get to share these creations with you, whether you’re a fellow 3D printing enthusiast or someone just looking to jazz up their board game.
